I have to say: Never paint hair like this. It took me forever!
Everything painted from scratch in Photoshop, using an Art Pad.

That's for the left half of your painting. I have a problem with the right.
In terms of composition it seems unnessesary; when I cover the right side with my hand I see a better picture.

Kinda have to agree with uncle-xeN there, I was a little disappointed when I saw this. I thought it was be a oil-like painting with a nice background, but it's just an airbrushed photo. The bg is not *that* bad, but that really dark cloud at the bottom doesn't look right at all.

The girl and (a part of) the cloudmass in the back look incredibly realistic so I understand some of the reactions you've been getting.
If this really is painted from scratch as you said it is, i really want to see a more detailed shot and/or a process. No disrespect, but I just want to know if you are really THAT good

Yes, this picture is painted from scratch. I start off with a rough b/w drawing, then I add shadows and high lights. After this I add colors and details. I have not saved the progress during any of my pictures, but I am doing this from now on just in case people are wondering. Sounds wierd to me, I really didn´t spend THAT much time on this if I compare this to the responds...

I have to admit that I really didn´t have much of a story going on in my head while making this. At the end stuff sort of popped up in my mind, thinking of her mind travelling to other places, something like that. I guess she´s on a journey inside her head...

I think the stars are unnecessary and detract some but not enough to harm the image.
